1. RE: CHPPD Draft Brochure
Jan 8 2009, 11:28 AM EST
Hi Priti, This is a good start. I am not sure if the puzzle is necessary though- perhaps it would be best as an interactive activity online or in our newsletter. I would like to see the new mission and vision statements on the brochure because they succinctly define who we are as an organization and helps with our branding. Scott and I were thinking that the brochure should serve several purposes: 1) inform new (and existing) members about who we are and what we do 2) briefly describe volunteer and learning opportunities ("Membership Benefits") 3) include a membership form / volunteer form 4) direct folks to our website and other resources for additional information. Scott and Souvenise, you may have some additional ideas I may have missed here. This wiki is a great idea Priti. Are we using this as a venue for discussion before we put items up on the e-communites discussion forum? Do you find this valuable? |

Hope you had a good Holiday Break. Happy New Year.I would suggest testing a conventional brochure (vision, mission), and the unconventional one to find out which one is more informative and engaging. Both may have their uses. I discovered the wiki last week, and set up two for chppd. The chppdweb.wetpaint.com is for section business, and chppd.wetpaint.com. I am still learning how to use it. I'd be delighted to offer suggestions on the draft brochure. I am, unfortunately, not able to see the document. Any tips on what I may be doing wrong? Thank you!

Sami, I am delighted how whole-heartedly you jumped into wiki. To see the brochure, go to the home page, and scroll down to see the attachments. The draft brochure is posted as a pdf document.

Thanks, Pritii, for the clarification! I wasn't able to figure it out for some reason. I do have a few thoughts on the brochure: (1) Could we switch the Membership Benefits and What You Can Do sections earlier in the brochure. I think the Background section, while relevant, is not as crucial to see in the beginning of the brochure. (2) Might reorganizing the brochure to make it just a half-piece of paper (folded in half instead of in thirds) make it easier to read, perhaps making some of the text look less dense. (3) General design could be improved. I don't have much design experience, but I may be able to work on it with some colleagues, depending on when we need this finalized by. What is the timeline for finalizing the brochure? Thank you. This is an excellent start for a very informative brochure! Do you find this valuable? |
